Thinking of Buying the Bobble Classic Water Bottle with Filter? Read This Review!
This unique water bottle is one of the best sellers on Amazon and one that my son thinks is particularly cool looking, which is why he made me give it to him as soon as I bought it. The Bobble Classic Water Bottle with filter has an appealing, stylish look, with a nice shape that fits comfortably in your hand. This bottle contains a carbon filter, in order to remove impurities from the water, such as chlorine and pesticides. The carbon filter is replaceable, making it eco-friendly and cost-effective in the long run. The Bobble Amazon store has the filters for sale for $14 for two packs of two, so four replacement filters, and they recommend replacing them every 2-3 months. Overall, if you’re looking for a plastic water bottle with a cool look and a basic filtering system, this might be a good option for you.
Here’s my Pros and Cons.
PROS:
- The stylish look. As soon as I purchased the Bobble Classic Water Bottle and my son saw it, he immediately made me give it to him. He just loved the look of it!
- Doesn’t leak. One of the issues we often have with water bottles is preventing leaks, particularly when they are traveling to and from school in a backpack. I can happily say that the Bobble Classic Water Bottle did not leak as it made its daily journey to and from school for the past couple weeks.
- Carbon filter. From the research I’ve done, carbon filters are proven to be largely effective at removing chlorine from water, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other organic compounds that can negatively affect the taste of drinking water.
- The price. Bobble’s Amazon store has these for sale for two for $20, and the replacement filters are very reasonably priced at four for $14. So this really is an affordable water bottle.
CONS:
- The plastic. Personally, I try to avoid as much plastic as possible, and you can check back for some of the research into why (think, microplastics). When you squeeze the Bobble water bottle it moves in your hand, which suggests to me that micro-plastics are getting leaked into the drinking water. I’m not convinced the carbon filter will remove all the microplastics.
- The limitations of carbon filters. Ok, so I know I had carbon filter as one of the “pros”, but the point of having it as a “con” is simply that carbon filters are limited in what they can remove from your water, and so in some ways it could be providing you with a false sense of security. You’ll have to check back for another article later or do your own research, but there are limitations as to a carbon filters ability to remove microplastics, fluoride, and other undesirables from water.
